Product Introduction
This ASE broadband light source belongs to an
incoherent light source, which is the spontaneous emission generated by a
semiconductor laser-pumped erbium-doped quartz fiber. Spectral flattening
technology achieves broadband flat spectra, and wavelength covers the C band,
and the spectral flatness <2dB, achieved through SM Fiber or PM fiber
output, many-level power option, suitable for fiber optic sensing applications.

Operation
Steps
Step1.Unpacking and Assembly:Please check whether the accessories are complete before assembly.
Step2. Connecting Fiber Jumpers:Open
the dust cap at the fiber connector or flange, check the fiber end face, and
connect the fiber or splice the fiber to the device or power meter to be tested
after confirming that there is no pollution or damage.
Step3. Connecting the Power Adapter and Serial Cable:Connect the light source module and the power adapter; connect the
light source module and the computer with a USB-RS232 signal cable. (Note: The
computer needs to install the serial port driver first. The driver can be found
on the CD-ROM or obtained from the Box Optronics company.)
Setp4. Use:Open the light source
activation switch; the light source output indicator light is on, and there is
optical power output. At this time, the working current and optical power value
are the parameters set by the host computer at the last shutdown. They can be
modified and saved in the host computer software (only for the model version
with adjustable power).
Step5. After use:Click the close
button, turn off the power supply, and disconnect the fiber connection.

Operation Notes and
Maintenance
● It is not recommended to frequently plug and unplug the fiber optic
connector at the output end. This helps avoid contamination with dust that can
increase insertion loss or cause the connector end face to burn.
● When starting up, first confirm that the power switch and key switch
are turned off, then connect the power. When shutting down, first turn off the
key switch; after the status indicator light goes out, disconnect the power. Do
not cut off the power directly while the light source is operating.
● For ASE broadband light source models with an output power of less
than 200 mW, the output fiber connector can be connected to other single-mode
fiber devices via a removable adapter (fiber flange). However, if the end face
of the fiber connector is contaminated, it is highly susceptible to burn damage
when the laser is activated—even if the laser power is very low. Therefore,
prior to connecting the fiber connector, you must use specialized fiber
cleaning tools to thoroughly clean the end face. Additionally, use a fiber
end-face inspector to carefully examine the surface, ensuring it is completely
free of dust and contaminants before making the connection via the fiber
flange. During the cleaning, inspection, and connection of the fiber connector,
you must ensure that the light source is in a deactivated state; under no
circumstances should these operations be performed while the light source is
emitting light. Once use is complete and the connector has been disconnected
from other fiber components, you must immediately cover the fiber connector
with a protective dust cap.
● Broadband ASE light source models with an output power of 200 mW or
higher may feature an output pigtail terminated with an FC/APC connector.
However, this connector is intended solely for user-initiated output power
monitoring (by connecting to an optical power meter) or for interfacing with an
FC-terminated fiber collimator to direct the laser output into free space. It
is strongly advisednotto use a flange adapter to directly mate this
connector with the pigtails of other user-owned fibers or devices; doing so
carries a significant risk of damaging both the fiber connector and the
amplifier unit itself. If interconnection with other fibers is required, it is
recommended to utilize fusion splicing; furthermore, ensure that the types of
fibers being connected are mutually compatible.
● Please take precautions against moisture, dust, and corrosion; store
in a dry place.

After-Sales Service
● Warranty Period:
Free repair or replacement for non-human-induced defects within 1
year from purchase. Paid maintenance services available after 1 year.
● Exclusions from Free Warranty:
During the free warranty period, free repair or replacement services
will be provided for faults caused by product quality issues. However, Box
Optronics retains the right to refuse free repair services in the following
cases within the warranty period:
(1) Damage caused by natural factors (e.g., lightning, dust) or
environmental influences.
(2) Malfunctions due to improper operation by the user.
(3) Obvious physical damage caused by human error.
(4) Unauthorized disassembly, modification, or repair.
(5) Altered or incomplete warranty labels on the housing.
(6) Damage or loss during transportation.
