Product Introduction
This is a 1030nm ASE Broadband Light Source based on
ytterbium-doped fiber and semiconductor pump lasers, with 1030nm spectral
coverage, 10/20/30/50/100/500/1000mW output power, and the polarization
extinction ratio as low as 0.2 dB. Complete set of accessories included; user
manual provided. It’s suitable for fiber optic
device testing, FBG grating production, medical imaging, etc.

1. Operation Steps-1030nm ASE Broadband Light Source
Step1.Unpacking and Assembly: Please
check whether the accessories are complete
before assembly.
Step2.Connecting Fiber Jumpers: Open
the dust cap at the fiber connector or flange, check the fiber end face, and
connect the fiber or splice the fiber to the device or power meter to be tested
after confirming that there is no pollution or damage.
Step3.Connecting the Power Adapter and
Serial Cable: Connect the light source module and the power adapter; connect
the light source module and the computer with a USB-RS232 signal cable. (Note:
The computer needs to install the serial port driver first. The driver can be
found on the CD-ROM or obtained from the Box Optronics company.)
Setp4.Use: Open the light source
activation switch; the light source output indicator light is on, and there is
optical power output. At this time, the working current and optical power value
are the parameters set by the host computer at the last shutdown. They can be
modified and saved in the host computer software (only for the model version
with adjustable power).
Step5.After use, click the close button, turn off the power supply, and disconnect
the fiber connection.

Operation Notes and
Maintenance
● Prior to connecting fiber optic connectors, specialized cleaning
tools must be used to thoroughly clean the end faces of the connectors.
Additionally, a fiber end-face inspector should be utilized to carefully
examine the surfaces to ensure they are completely free of dust and
contaminants before connecting them via a fiber flange. During the cleaning,
inspection, and connection of fiber optic end faces, it is imperative to ensure
that the light source is in a deactivated state; under no circumstances should
these operations be performed while light is being transmitted. Once use is
complete and the connector has been disconnected from other fiber optic
connectors, the fiber connector must be fitted with a protective dust cap.
● Broadband ASE light source models with an output power of 200 mW or
higher may feature an output pigtail terminated with an FC/APC connector.
However, this connector is intended solely for user-initiated output power
monitoring (by connecting to an optical power meter) or for interfacing with an
FC-terminated fiber collimator to direct the laser output into free space. It
is strongly advisednotto use a flange adapter to directly mate this
connector with the pigtails of other user-owned fibers or devices; doing so
carries a significant risk of damaging both the fiber connector and the
amplifier unit itself. If interconnection with other fibers is required, it is
recommended to utilize fusion splicing; furthermore, ensure that the types of
fibers being connected are mutually compatible.
● It is strongly advised against frequently inserting or removing the
fiber optic connectors at the output port, in order to prevent dust
contamination—which can lead to increased insertion loss—or the burning of the
fiber connector's end face.
● When starting up, first ensure that both the power switch and the
key switch are turned off, then connect the power supply. When shutting down,
first turn off the key switch, and disconnect the power supply only after the
output indicator light has extinguished. Never directly cut off the power
supply while the light source is in operation.
● Please take precautions against moisture, dust, and corrosion; it
should be stored in a dry place.
Quality Assurance and
After-Sales Service
● Warranty Period:
Free repair or replacement for non-human-induced defects within 1
year from purchase. Paid maintenance services available after 1 year.
● Exclusions from Free Warranty:
During the free warranty period, free repair or replacement services
will be provided for faults caused by product quality issues. However, Box
Optronics retains the right to refuse free repair services in the following
cases within the warranty period:
(1) Damage caused by natural factors (e.g., lightning, dust) or
environmental influences.
(2) Malfunctions due to improper operation by the user.
(3) Obvious physical damage caused by human error.
(4) Unauthorized disassembly, modification, or repair.
(5) Altered or incomplete warranty labels on the housing.
(6) Damage or loss during transportation.
