The 3rd Symposium on Wireless Optical Communication, Sensing Technologies, and Applications

From May 9 to 11, 2026, the 3rd Symposium on Wireless Optical Communication, Sensing Technologies, and Applications was successfully held in Dongguan, Guangdong. Initiated by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and hosted by the University of the Greater Bay Area (UGB), this symposium was organized by the UGB School of Information Science and Technology and the USTC Research Center for Wireless Optical Communication and Networks. It was co-organized by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., the Center for Terahertz Science and Applications at the Beijing Institute of Technology (Zhuhai), the Dongguan Key Laboratory of Intelligent Swarm Sensing, Communication, and Computing, the Guangdong Alliance for Technological Innovation in Smart Visible Light Industry, and the AEIC Academic Exchange Center. The event attracted over 200 experts, scholars, and industry representatives from universities, research institutes, and enterprises across the country.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the Symposium’s Technical Program Committee Chair, IEEE Fellow, and Professor Zhaocheng Wang from Tsinghua University.

Twelve experts from both academia and industry delivered keynote speeches, sharing the latest technological achievements and application advancements in the field of wireless optical communication and sensing.

During the symposium's tutorial session, in-depth discussions were held focusing on the "Theory, Technology, and Systems for Ultraviolet Optical Communication and Positioning." Across nine parallel sessions, participating guests delivered a total of 62 specialized technical presentations covering areas such as wireless optical communication and integrated wireless optical communication-sensing, addressing full-spectrum wireless optical communication and sensing technologies across a wide range of application scenarios.
