Optical amplifiers are a class of devices designed to amplify optical signals; they serve to boost output power, extend transmission distances, and enhance overall system performance. In modern optical communications, fiber sensing, laser systems, and high-end optoelectronic applications, optical amplifiers act as critical core components for achieving signal enhancement, loss compensation, and system performance optimization.
Box Optronics primarily offers the following four major categories of optical amplifier products:
(1) Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOA)
SOAs utilize a semiconductor gain medium to achieve compact optical signal amplification. Characterized by their small footprint, rapid response speed, and ease of integration, they are well-suited for signal boosting, optical switching, broadband amplification, and OEM optoelectronic systems.
(2) Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA)
Primarily deployed in C-band and L-band optical communication systems, EDFAs feature high gain, low noise, and excellent compatibility with communication protocols. They are widely utilized in DWDM/CWDM networks, ASE broadband light sources, fiber sensing applications, and long-distance transmission systems.
(3) Ytterbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers (YDFA)
YDFA products are primarily designed for high-power amplification within the 1030 nm to 1080 nm wavelength range. They are ideally suited for use in high-power fiber lasers, industrial processing, nonlinear optics, precision measurement, and scientific research systems.
(4) Fiber Raman Amplifiers
Fiber Raman amplifiers leverage stimulated Raman scattering to achieve flexible wavelength gain. They are applicable to long-distance optical transmission, specialized wavelength systems, distributed sensing, and advanced scientific research applications.
