Product Introduction


The 980nm Pump Diode Laser Module with Built-in Drive Circuits is specially designed for optical communication, fiber amplification, and Nonlinear optics research. It integrates a laser chip, drive circuit, temperature control protection unit, and fiber output structure in one, with no external drive required, plug-and-play. 200mW/ 400mW/ 600mW are available. SM fiber and PM fiber are optional. 1-year warranty. When using the laser source module for a long time, be sure to consider the heat dissipation. Place the module on a heat sink.

Operation Steps


Step1.Unpacking: Before assembly, check whether all accessories are complete, including Pump laser source module, USB data cable, power adapter, test report, etc.


Step2.Power supply: Connected to a DC switching power supply or a regulated power supply that meets their power supply requirements. Use only the original matched power adapter (DC5V or DC12V). Improper power adapters may damage the light source. (Power adapter supplied according to local voltage standards.)


Step3.Connecting output fiber: Open the dust cap at the fiber connector or flange, check the fiber end face, and connect the fiber or splice the fiber to the device or power meter to be tested after confirming that there is no pollution and damage.


Setp4.Connect to the host computer: Use the USB-RS485 DB9 Data Cable to connect the 980nm Pump Diode Laser Module with Built-in Drive Circuits and the computer; the computer must first install a dedicated serial port driver to identify the USB-RS485 serial port data cable, otherwise the host computer software and the light source module cannot be correctly connected and communicated. Please ask Box Optronics for the driver.


Step5.Control software: Box Optronics provides the serial command or PC software to control the LD current and LD temperature of the 980nm Pump Diode Laser Module with Built-in Drive Circuits. Choose the correct port, set the current and temperature, then click the open button. (To prevent damage, ramp up the drive current slowly at initial operation. Do not apply full current immediately.)


Step6.After use, click the close button, turn off the power supply, and disconnect the fiber connection.

Operation Notes and Maintenance


● When using the light source module for extended periods, be sure to consider heat dissipation and ventilation by mounting the module onto a heat sink.

● When starting up, first ensure that both the power switch and the key switch are in the "off" position, then connect the power supply. When shutting down, first turn off the key switch; wait until the indicator light has extinguished before disconnecting the power supply. Never directly cut off the power while the equipment is in operation.

● Avoid frequent plugging/ unplugging of fiber connectors to prevent dust accumulation and end-face damage.

● Clean fiber connectors with a lint-free wipe and inspect with a fiber end-face detector before connection. Always connect/disconnect fibers without power to avoid end-face burning. Cap unused connectors with dust caps.

● Store the equipment in a dry, moisture-free environment.


Quality Assurance and After-Sales Service


● Warranty Period:

Free repair or replacement for non-human-induced defects within 1 year from purchase. Paid maintenance services available after 1 year.

● Exclusions from Free Warranty:

During the free warranty period, free repair or replacement services will be provided for faults caused by product quality issues. However, Box Optronics retains the right to refuse free repair services in the following cases within the warranty period:

(1) Damage caused by natural factors (e.g., lightning, dust) or environmental influences.

(2) Malfunctions due to improper operation by the user.

(3) Obvious physical damage caused by human error.

(4) Unauthorized disassembly, modification, or repair.

(5) Altered or incomplete warranty labels on the housing.

(6) Damage or loss during transportation.
